Is Hell A Deterrent To Sin

If a Christian understands the severity of hell, they will not be so quick to fall into sin. They will have a greater fear and respect for Almighty God to the point of obeying Him.

Rejecting Jesus is what sends a person to hell. However, those who claim to be Christian and are living in habitual sin are in a dangerous, deceptive place. They are on a slippery slope towards hell.

Why Does God Allow Evil?

Evil exists in the world because Satan is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). Jesus told us in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” The killing, stealing and destroying are not from God, but from Satan. 

Another reason for the rampant evil in the world is that God's people don't pray. Jesus told us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.” Why would He tell us to pray for His will to be done if it just happens automatically? If we don’t pray, His will is not done, and God doesn’t get involved.

How Do We Know Hell Exists?

There are many verses in the Bible that make it abundantly clear there is in fact, a geographical location of hell. It is a literal place of fire and torment, and it is found down deep in the earth. Jesus Himself is the ultimate source of the reliable, accurate truth about hell. 

Because God has placed eternity in every human heart, the reality of hell even exists in the belief of many of the world's false religions. Man knows he is accountable to God after this life, and there will be a place of blessing, and a place of punishment. 

God has given each of us a free will to choose where we will spend our eternity. It will be in heaven, or it will be hell.

People Who Have Seen Heaven

There are many true accounts of people who have had a near death experience, or a clinical death experience. There are also stories of those who were given a dream or vision from God about heaven.

From the pilot who was the sole survivor of a plane crash forty years ago, to a medical doctor who died instantly in an auto accident, their experiences tell of people, sights and sounds every believer will someday experience too.

One author describes getting a glimpse of Jesus. He writes, "He was talking with people, loving them, hugging them....I wanted to be there just to fall at His feet....I just wanted to be with Jesus."

Degrees Of Punishment in Hell

Does Hell have different levels or degrees of punishment? Yes. Jesus tells us there are different degrees of punishment for people in hell.

This makes sense because even here on earth prison sentences vary based on the severity of the crime, a criminal’s history, and the laws set forth by the authorities.

The Creator of the Universe has prepared two locations where human beings will exist after they die. In Matthew 25:46, Jesus said, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

There is only Heaven or hell.

The Spirit Of Destruction

Bill and Annette discuss a dream Bill experienced in 2001. This dream took place before Bill had written his book, 23 Minutes In Hell. They explain what the dream represented, the Spirit of destruction they witnessed, and why we must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and the ways in which He communicates with us.

As Christians, we must be watchful and spiritually alert, discerning the times and seasons. God’s warnings are for our protection. We also have powerful promises from the Bible that we can pray over our families and our lives for protection and deliverance from harm.

Most people know that I spent 23 minutes in hell. God gave me this life-changing vision in November 1998. There are others who have also had a glimpse of hell, who were on their deathbed, or who had a dream or vision from God. I'm not the only one.

Before The Shark Attack

I have shared many times about the shark attack I miraculously walked away from when I was just 17 years old. This event marked the culmination of a defiant season in my youth. I share this to  give people a glimpse of who I was in my younger days because I believe there are some lessons that can be learned from my disobedience.

First, there are consequences for our decisions. Some decisions are harmful and cannot be changed (apart from God’s intervention), or could even lead to a premature death. When we are young, it’s easy to be deceived and think we are invincible.

The Shock Of Seeing Hell

God gave me a vision of hell.

When I was traveling back from hell, I had no fear whatsoever. I felt an overwhelming sense of love, peace and safety in the presence of Jesus. 

During this vision, I was outside my physical body and in my spirit body. As we returned home, I viewed my body lying on the floor. Jesus then placed me back in my physical body.

The moment I entered it, the memories of hell flooded my mind with absolute terror. I started screaming, lying there on the living room floor in a traumatized state. Hell is far worse than any horror you could experience or imagine on earth. My cries were loud enough to reach the bedroom and woke up my wife from a deep sleep.
