God’s Guidance In Perilous Times

Two weeks ago Bill and Annette Wiese left for Florida to fulfill speaking engagements in the area. They had no idea they would end up in the middle of Hurricane Ian. Annette describes what they encountered, and how they relied on God for His guidance during those uncertain days. 

The experience was a reminder of how much we need to depend on God for direction, most especially when we are faced with perilous situations. No matter what is happening around us, when we seek Him first, we can turn to Him in faith for clarity and protection.

Do Good Works Matter?

Christians know that good works don't save us. We are saved by His grace through faith, and not by works. But what about after we are saved? The Bible lists many verses where we're told to be full of good works.

Jesus said in Luke 6:46, “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?" That begs the question, "If works don't follow a person’s salvation...are they really saved?"

Do We Follow Jesus Out Of Fear?

People are either saved by experiencing His goodness (Romans 2:4) or through the fear of being cast into hell (Jude 23). Jesus told us He is the only way of salvation and sadly, many people say they don’t believe Him. This is why He said in Matthew 12:37 that a person’s own words will condemn them to hell. Those who reject Jesus Christ have good reason to fear the God they will meet on Judgment day.

Questions For An Atheist

Why do you think a Christian takes the time to talk to an Atheist? Why should we share the way of salvation? After all, there is no money in it, and we could be doing something enjoyable for our selves. Why should we use our time preaching on street corners, passing out Bible tracts, or sharing Jesus with people who mock or despise us?

It is because the love of God compels us. We know where the unsaved are going when they die, and we are trying to influence them to choose the right road. God loves mankind and He doesn’t want even one person to go to hell.

After Demons Are Cast Out

Did you know that some people can be worse off AFTER they’ve been delivered from demons? The Bible provides sober warnings to the person who fails to take heed and be on guard, and instead goes back to playing with sin.

We can actually do more harm than good when Jesus sets a person free from demons if we neglect to instruct them in spiritual growth and wisdom.

Why People Reject God

Have you ever met someone who was adamant about denying or rejecting God? We have learned that a person’s past experiences, their upbringing, and possibly hurt or pain can lead to great misconceptions about who God really is. If we would be willing to ask people questions about themselves, and really listen to what they are saying, it can show us how to share God’s love and truth with them.

The Ten Virgins

Who are the ten virgins Jesus spoke about in the book of Matthew? What can we learn from them? Is this story a warning to all believers?

“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish..."

The rest of this Bible passage goes on to describe their actions, attitudes, and ultimately the outcome of their preparedness or lack of.

A Dirty Bible

A familiar phrase in church is, "Dirty Bible clean Christian." What does that mean? A dirty Bible is one that is frequently used. It may have notes written in the margins, many words and verses highlighted, and even be worn and tattered in appearance. This kind of Bible often shows that a believer is giving attention to reading the Word, and taking time to grow in their faith. 

In today’s digital world, some have deprived themselves of engaging with and immersing themselves in an actual, physical Bible. When you read and study from a real Bible vs. an electronic Bible there are definite benefits!

Why Is The Devil Allowed To Do Evil?

The Bible says that Satan is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). God originally gave the earth to man to rule and dominate, but man lost it to the devil when he sinned in the Garden. God had to allow, what man had allowed. Since Adam and Eve, the devil has caused sickness and destruction (John 10:10). However, not all evil should be blamed on the devil.
