You’ve often heard it said, “God’s ways are not our ways." So many people misinterpret Isaiah 55:8,9 which reads, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
This particular Bible verse has been used to explain away why bad things happen in life, and in doing so, blame God. This is an example of why it is so important to read scripture in the correct context. The Bible is our greatest tool to understand God and grow in our faith however, we must commit to doing the research when we apply scripture. There may be some questions we need to ask ourselves.

Imagine your doctor has informed you that you only have hours to live. Your disease is in the final stages. Most likely you will not last through the night. What is most important to you during the last remaining hours you have on this earth?
We all have questions about the afterlife but someone on their deathbed will be thinking about very different things from the person who is healthy and living a busy, full life. Spending cherished moments with loved ones, and putting our financial affairs in order are prominent thoughts for all however, these questions also take on a new urgency:
- Is there life after death?
- Is there a heaven and hell?
- Will I go to heaven?
- Will I go to hell?
The arrogant, demanding questions diminish in these last moments. Facing death tends to humble most everyone.

There are no family reunions in hell. You will not be united with your loved ones, sharing in their company, to enjoy whatever lies ahead. The only thing that lies ahead in hell is torment and isolation. Family relations would represent a type of joy, and there is absolutely no joy in hell. This reunion belief is based on a lie.
Do not be deceived into believing there is something good or comforting about hell. The Bible clearly states that the unbelieving person, who rejects Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, will end up in hell alone, and in torment forever.

Can we pray to get someone out of hell? Sadly, the answer is no. Once a person has died their eternity is set. That’s why it is so critical to pray for people and share the Gospel truth with them while they are still alive.
Unbiblical doctrines have been around for centuries providing false peace and comfort to grieving parties of the deceased based on a lie. We must be absolutely clear that it is impossible to alter a persons eternal destination once they have died. Teaching to the contrary of this is dangerous and misleading.
How do we know this to be true? The Bible shares multiple verses that give us clear indication that no one can be prayed out of hell.

It doesn't seem fair that a person could lead a wicked life, never change their ways, and keep on sinning right up until their last breath. Why should they be allowed to repent, receive Jesus as their Savior, and go to heaven within moments of their death? Many people feel strongly that they deserve to go to hell because they haven't put in the work to get to heaven.
The truth is, we all deserve hell. Remember that salvation is not based on our good works. According to the Bible, we all are evil in God’s sight. It is only repentance that brings salvation, and repentance can happen at anytime for anyone.
"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9

Do you believe that the men who penned the Bible were uneducated fisherman? Do you perceive them as weak individuals who were passive, needing some kind of a crutch or assistance, who had accomplished very little in their lives?
Nothing could be further from the truth. Man of these writers were educated men, some of great wealth, some who held high political positions, some who were prophets of God and ministered to the kings, and some who were great military Generals.
Let's not forget that these authors of the Bible were also inspired by God Himself to write every word of the entire Bible.

What does it mean to repent? Some people believe that repentance means to change your mind about God's existence, and nothing more. That's not true. This issue is of utmost importance because if you think that salvation is simply a mental agreement that Jesus is the Son of God, you are wrong. It is not merely a change of mind about some fact.
What is repentance really? It is a change of mind and a change of heart which results in a changed life and change in your actions. It is having a desire to please God.
True repentance is a requirement for salvation, and salvation is not just a list of facts you must believe, but a Person to be obeyed.

Every one of us was born in sin. When God commanded man to follow His instructions back in the Garden of Eden, He warned Adam what would happen if he disobeyed. His disobedience was sin. Adam took on a sinful nature and could not enter Heaven.
Because of that, all mankind has a sinful nature and that sin has passed down to every person ever born. You might think it’s not fair that we all have to suffer for Adam's sin long ago but every one of us would have sinned too. Humans prove it every day with our sinful thoughts, actions, intents and attitudes.
This is why we all need a Savior. We are all doomed to die and go to hell if left on our own. Adam brought death to every man, and Jesus brought life to every man if they would receive Him and obey Him. Thank God there is a way to be forgiven, and a way to heaven.

Did you know that the Bible actually speaks of two different hells? The current hell is called Hades in the Greek and Sheol in the Hebrew. This hell is located down deep in the earth. The Lake of Fire is the future hell which Jesus called Gehenna. This hell is a place of eternal torment and eternal separation from God and all good.
